Now its official! The Turkish metropolis of Bursa will host the Cable Wakeboard European Championships 2008 from 17. – 19. of October. Bursa is a university town with 2,5 million inhabitants, strong economy, historic on the one and modern on the other hand, with an enormous willingness for investment in sports.
Bursa belongs to the Asiatic part of Turkey and is about 150km south of Istanbul. About 25km outside the town is also a mountain with a high of 3200m which is very famous for alpin ski in the winter.
Directly next to the cable is the zoo and the botanic garden of Bursa and the town centre of Bursa is just 8km away.
The construction of the cable is still in progress and will be opened in April next year. The wakeboard site is part of a 25.000 m² area which will be enlarged to 60.000 m². The cable will be built with a Rixen system and will be covered with a couple of brand new obstacles.
The official opening of the cable will be a national competition with a demonstration of the two open category champions of 2007 – Pauline Dyrschka and Nick Davies.
Next years EAME Championships will again be organised by the official partner agency of the EAME Cable Wakeboard Council ID+MA from Germany in cooperation with the city of Bursa. |
